My research is primarily looking into the interdisciplinary applications of using mathematical modelling in an ecological setting. With this in mind, I chose to do my research with Dr. Eric Vander Wal studying spatial movement and estimating moose density (using the random encounter and staying time model) because it highlights my twin interests in math and ecology.
My career path has not always been clear-cut; I changed my undergraduate degree twice before exploring Ecology as a profession. However, I immediately took to the subject, and hope to use my time as a master’s student to further my academic learning as a research scientist.
